MUSICAL, CULTURAL AND CULINARY CALIFORNIA
I just got back from LA.
It’s been wonderful to return to Southern California with so many memories of my time there as a student at the University of Southern California.
Playing in Pasadena was a lot of fun as always. The recording team was amazing, and I really like what they came up with. Here is a little sampler of my performance of Debussy’s ‘What the Westwind saw’.
Take a look:
I had quite a memorable culinary experience following the concert at a coffee place called Urth. Their bright yellow ‘Turmeric Chai Tea’ was spectacular, tasted great, and of course it looked very fun!
Before my masterclass at Orange County School of the Arts I had a bit of time to visit the famous Bowers Museum in Santa Ana.
The museum features a large collection of California plein-air painting. This Frank Coburn piece caught my eye. It is titled ‘Ideal California Day’. What a fitting title for my day!
