CHINA tour 2018
I am thrilled to announce my return to China next month! Some of you might recall my first China concert tour back in 2015. I absolutely loved my time there since it was outside of my comfort zone and way of life. Now in February 2018, it will be fantastic exploring new and familiar parts of this country.
I perform two concerts in grand Macao City, known for their opulent casinos where a hand in Black Jack can be over $1 million. (The arts could use this money, eh?) I also judge a piano competition and lead two master classes in this city.
The tour continues to the South of China (Guangdong Province). I perform three concerts on three separate days.
Culturally, I am keenly looking forward to experiencing the low-calorie cuisine of Guangdong Province and Macao City. During my last trip, I realized much of the food is low-cal, but high in flavor. This bodes well for my healthy eating/fitness regimen!
Guangdong Province has its own cuisine within China featuring uniquely flavored fish and vegetable dishes. Macao City is influenced by Portuguese cuisine due to its history. I am very curious to explore these dishes as well.
Over the past few years, I have been learning Mandarin Chinese. I realize I cannot use it everywhere I go in China, but I hope to put my new language skills to use on occasion!
If you have any traveling tips for Macao City or Guangdong Province, I want to hear from you!
Finally, I want to update you on some previous happenings since the year began. I returned from Germany after a successful Chamber Music Festival where I had students coming from all over to study. We were at capacity, which is such a satisfying feeling.
Earlier this week, I recorded for Steinway Spirio! I'll save the particulars for an upcoming announcement when the tracks are released, but it was a fabulous experience working with the Steinway team in the heart of Manhattan.
Stay tuned for more updates!
