AUTUMN WINDS IN MAY - South Africa
Hello from the Southern Hemisphere!
This marks my fifth visit to the campus of North West University in the city of Potchefstroom, South Africa. My guest professorship was a lot of fun, and it was great to reconnect with the faculty and the students.
My invitation included a solo recital.
Since the Fall season just started in the Southern hemisphere I decided to perform works about wind, which felt very seasonal.
As part of my invitation I got to present master classes, work shops and a lecture focused on the many possibilities the internet provides for classical musicians. I loved the enthusiasm of the students and I found their questions very engaging.
Connecting with my colleague, South African pianist Charl Du Plessis was particularly fun, since we had so much to talk about. There might be some exciting news to share soon, so stay tuned!
For a little R&R following my visit at North West University, I took myself for a few days to the ocean in beautiful Cape Town.
Here are a few holiday shots from my autumn vacay days in the Cape. I always love relaxing by the water!
Next up: a chamber music recording project, more solo performances and some piano festival fun!
Stay tuned!
